Audi Jazz Festival

Held across Belgium from October 1st to December 10th, the Brussels arm of this festival provides visitors with the opportunity to sample some of the best jazz music around. These days, the event has branched out and also includes the opportunity to hear blues, hip hop and world music at a variety of venues across the city. Marni Jazz Festival @ Flagey

The Flagey cultural centre and Marni Theatre open their doors to an eclectic mix of musicians at this five-day jazz festival.The fun kicks off at the Marni Theatre with Luxembourger Pascal Schumacher and his quartet playing modern improvisational acoustic jazz on 6 December, followed by the KNOM Quintet on 7 December, playing melancholy, sensual tunes that borrow from the blues, groove and free jazz. Later the same evening, father and son saxophonist and baritone Pierre and François Vaiana play classics by Charles Mingus, Wayne Shorter, John Coltrane and Ornette Coleman. Friday is the day for avant-garde free jazz at Flagey, with Archie Shepp and the trance-like Moroccan Gnawa music of Le dar Gnawa de Tanger, while Saturday 9 December welcomes local singer and flautist Melanie De Biasio to play with her quartet back at Marni. Amina Claudine Meyers rounds off the festival with her special brand of gospel and contemporary jazz at Marni on Sunday.

Mediterranean Cinema Festival @ Botanique

Brussels' cultural venue Le Botanique presents its biennial festival of Mediterranean Cinema. There are three cinema screens and each night the concert hall is used for talks and discussions about the films shown.
The event brings together 65 shorts and full-length feature films from as far afield as Albania, Algeria, Croatia, Egypt, Spain, Morocco, Israel and Libya. Many are shown for the first time in Belgium at the event, which aims to create a multicultural dialogue and bring together film buffs, professional and amateur alike.More info at the Mediterranean Cinema website.

Spa Film Festival

Du 24 au 26 novembre aura lieu le quatrième "Spa Film Festival". Le petit théâtre, ainsi que le salon gris et bleu du Casino de Spa accueilleront les cinéphiles ayant soif de films étranges ou tout simplement sortant des sentiers battus. On pourra y découvrir des longs métrages placés sous le signe de l'étrange et du merveilleux avec la projection notamment du director's cut de "Dikkenek" ou "Sheitan" qui avait secoué nos esprits grâce à l'interprétation effrayante de Vincent Cassel. Cette édition proposera également des courts métrages belges avec un focus sur le cinéma d'animation. Des invités de marque, comme une bonne partie du casting de "Dikkenek" ainsi que le réalisateur Romain Gavras (fils de Costa Gavras) du collectif 'Koutrajmé', seront de la partie. Souad Massi burst onto the world music scene in October, 2001 with a performance at WOMEX (the world music expo) in Rotterdam that captured everyone’s attention. At the time her debut album Raoui was only available in France. Although Souad was signed to Island Records the UK branch of Island declined to release Raoui. Fortunately, independent label Wrasse Records stepped in and licensed the album so giving Raoui the release it so rightfully deserves. LoveBall Festival comes to Brussels

Brussels is ready to welcome the biggest European gay clubbing festival once more.
From Thursday 16th to Sunday 19th of November 2006, the European capital will be again the meeting point for gays coming from all over Europe and the rest of the world. There will be four days of leisure and cultural activities through 6 parties (including one dedicated completely to lesbians) on which Loveball expects to attract again more than 15.000 people.

“Emma06” is the third edition of a multidisciplinary exhibition of contemporary art that happened in September 2003 for the first time.
